The family of the late Rolito Tanillo, an alleged member of the New People’s Army who has been linked to an arson incident, got financial assistance from the municipal government of La Libertad in Negros Oriental.
A statement issued by the Army’s 62nd Infantry Battalion said that P10,000 financial assistance was extended by the Municipal Task Force ELCAC to Jerlyn Manait, the live-in partner of Tanillo, who died in an encounter with Army soldiers on February 10 at Crossing Lansang, Barangay Talaon, La Libertad.
An M14 assault rifle was recovered at the encounter site, aside from the cadaver of Tanillo.
Tanillo was among the remnants of the dismantled Central Negros (Front) 1, linked to the burning of two backhoes, a payloader, and a dump truck of a construction company that was constructing a farm-to-market road in Brgy. Aya, La Libertad town.*
