Slight increase in July rates, but upgrades working – Negros Power

• GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Negros Power has announced a slight increase in residential electricity rates for July 2025, citing higher generation and transmission charges as the primary drivers of the adjustment, Negros Power said it will trigger a slight increase in residential electricity rate this July.

In an advisory, Negros Power reported that the average residential power rate now stands at Php 11.37 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), up from Php 11.14/kWh in June.

While the adjustment may affect consumers’ bills, the company shared that on the operational front, as the system losses have declined significantly, indicating that its ongoing infrastructure upgrades are beginning to yield results.

The feeder loss dropped to 7.08 percent in July, down from 8.03 percent the previous month, Negros Power said, as it attributes to extensive line rehabilitation and network improvements across its service area.

“This is a clear sign that our massive line rehabilitations and network improvements are working,” the distribution utility firm said.

“Every percentage drop means less wasted energy and better service reliability for our customers”, Negros Power said, which also emphasized its commitment to long-term improvements, reaffirming its five-year development plan aimed at delivering more stable, efficient, and affordable electricity to homes and businesses throughout Central Negros

Negros Power further said it continues to position itself as a proactive utility provider, investing in modernization efforts to ensure a resilient and future-ready power system for the region.*
