Slight increase in meat, egg prices blamed on feeds

The slight increase in prices of meat and eggs in Negros Occidental was attributed by the Provincial Veterinary Office to the high prices of feeds.

Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Placeda Lemana reported yesterday a slight increase in the price of eggs at an average of 10 centavos per piece.

Lemana however gave assurance of enough supply of eggs in Negros Occidental.

He also reported that the increase on the average price of carabao meat at P1.38 per kilo, cow beef at P2 per kilo, and chicken meat at 54 centavos per kilo.

The highest price of carabao beef was reported in Escalante City and Sagay City at P340 per kilo while Don Salvador Benedicto has the lowest price at P195 per kilo.

Pork, on the hand, is sold at high prices of P295 per kilo in Hinigaran, as well as cities of San Carlos and Silay City, while the lowest price of P250 per kilo was noted in Moises Padilla, Toboso, Don Salvador Benedicto, Isabela, Kabankalan City and Victorias City, Lemana said.*
