SM City Bacolod mobilizes employees for Brigada Eskwela

SM City Bacolod unified its employee workforce and SM Security Force to spearhead a dual-wave Brigada Eskwela initiative at J.R. Torres Elementary School in Barangay Singcang-Airport.

According to a press release, the initiative began with an advance deployment from the SM Security Force. Operating under the Customer Relations Service Office, off-duty security guards volunteered their personal time to tackle heavy physical preparations, including clearing debris, deep-cleaning classrooms, performing minor structural repairs, and sprucing up the campus gardens.

Following the groundwork laid by the security force, a main contingent of mall employee volunteers arrived to finalize the transformation. The workforce focused on aesthetic and comfort upgrades, such as sweeping the grounds, painting the perimeter fences, and installing brand-new electric fans inside the classrooms. SM City Bacolod also turned over a substantial donation of cleaning materials, paint supplies, and classroom appliances.

Principal Caridad Ellera expressed gratitude to the dual-wave volunteer workforce, noting that their combined efforts significantly eased the school’s opening preparations.

SM City Bacolod Mall Manager Julia Javellana emphasized that the initiative reflects the mall’s deep connection with its host community.

“Barangay Singcang-Airport is one of our long-time adopted communities,” Javellana stated. “Having previously partnered with them for multiple coastal cleanups, seeing our security force and employees go all out to refresh these classrooms shows that the entire SM family is committed to uplifting the spaces where children learn and grow.”*
