An ordinance amending Sections 3 and 5 of City Ordinance No. 433, or The Bacolod City Bible Week and Bible Sunday Ordinance, was passed by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod on first reading Wednesday.
The ordinance authored by Councilor Renecito Novero amended Section 3 of C.O. 433 to provide for the creation of a steering committee of five members to be chaired by the vice mayor or his designate.
The five members will be composed of the heads of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, Treasurer’s Office, Department of Budget, Tourism Office, and Accounting Department, it said.
In order to ensure that the objectives, intents and purposes of the ordinance are properly implemented, there shall be an allocation from the general fund of the city an initial amount of P200,000, the ordinance said.
The City Steering Committee on the Bible Week may engage in resource generation/mobilization activities as may be allowed by law to further ensure the success and continued celebration of the Bible Week and Bible Sunday including its programs and projects, provided all fund generation are officially undertaken, documented, and subject to the standard accounting procedures, it said.
The ordinance said supplemental appropriations may be undertaken by the Sangguniang Panlungsod after due evaluation of the effectivity of the program.*
