An ordinance mandating the distribution of safe and potable water by the service provider operating in the City of Bacolod, was passed by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod recently on the first reading.
Authored by Councilor Dindo Ramos, the ordinance said the City of Bacolod continues to be confronted with many problems even as fundamental as providing basic service such as clean and potable water to its residents, as well as other related issues associated with rapid urbanization.
The water consumers in the City of Bacolod are mainly concerned with the availability of continuous clean and potable water supply readily available in their homes and the absence of which would create many complex problems related to health, sanitation and environment, among others, it said.
The proposed ordinance will mandate the water service provider for the distribution of safe and potable water to all its consumers – the residents and other institutional consumers that will provide for the healthy well-being of the residents of the City of Bacolod.
The water service provider will be imposed with penalties for violations of provisions stated in this ordinance. Should any provision in this ordinance or any part thereof be declared invalid or unconstitutional, the remaining provisions not affected will continue in full force and effect.*
