SP ratifies MOA with MassKara organizers

• THERESA MAE DULMAN

The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) of Bacolod City officially ratified the Memorandum of Agreement between the city government and the Bacolod Gugma Foundation Inc., on Wednesday, with the latter as organizer for the MassKara Festival 2025.

The agreement, signed by Mayor Greg Gasataya, marks the first step in the preparations for the festival, which is expected to begin on October 1, with the highlights set for October 17-19, while the first-ever Grand After-Party is set to take center stage on October 26.

“Everyone calls for transparency in all the activities, the financial aspect of the celebration as well as the city’s participation will be highlighted and maximized,” Gasataya said.

Gasataya remarks that the city and the SP will definitely be a part of the MassKara and will not just be a ‘flower vase.’

This year’s MassKara signals the comeback of the Street and Arena Dance Competition among schools in Bacolod, after a five-year hiatus.

“As we all know, every time there are activities like these, our schools show their support, we will finalize especially on the contribution aspect or assistance that the city will provide,” Gasataya added.

Moreover, organizers said that they streamlined the activities with various sectors including the LGBTQ+ community, senior citizens, youth, and the vibrant artists’ community.*
