A resolution requesting Baciwa-PrimeWater to clarify and shed light on reports regarding the alleged issuance of a cease and desist order against the Bacolod Bulk Water Inc. (BBWI), was approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod Wednesday.
Authored by Councilor Roberto Rojas, the resolution also requests Baciwa-Primewater to submit to the Sangguniang Panlungsod the expected impact of such a development on the city’s water supply, including its contingency and action plans to address any potential disruptions.
Approximately 50 percent of the water supply of Bacolod City is sourced from the Bacolod Bulk Water Inc. (BBWI), it said.
Bacolod City is presently experiencing emerging concerns relating to water supply sufficiency in certain areas due to the effects of El Niño and seasonal heat conditions, the resolution said.
The foregoing matter directly affects the stability, reliability, and sustainability of the water supply of Bacolod City and is therefore a matter of significant interest, it said.
It is the right of the residents of the City of Bacolod to be informed of relevant issues that might affect them, hence a report from Baciwa-PrimeWater is significant and indispensable, the resolution added.*
