SP to cops: Intensify visibility

The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod is urging the Bacolod City Police Office – Philippine National Police to intensify police visibility, and crime prevention measures following the recent hold-up incident involving a doctor in Brgy. 19, Bacolod City.

Authored by Councilor Em Ang, the resolution said the Sangguniang Panlungsod has received reports of a recent hold-up incident where a medical doctor was robbed, causing fear and distress not only to the victim but to residents and health workers in the area.

Doctors and other frontline medical personnel provide critical services to the community, and any threat to their safety directly affects public health and access to medical care, it said.

The Bacolod City Police Office – PNP has the mandate to prevent crimes, conduct prompt investigations, and ensure the safety of all citizens, the resolution said.

Increased police visibility, strategic checkpoints, and intelligence-driven operations have proven effective in determining criminal activity and giving the public a sense of security, it said.

The BCPO-PNP is urged and requested to intensify police visibility and patrol operations, especially during peak hours. In Brgy. 19 and other areas with reported incidents; to coordinate with Brgy. 19 officials, community leaders, and medical groups to strengthen crime prevention and reporting mechanisms; and explore the installation of additional CCTV cameras, and improved lighting in identified crime-prone areas.*
