A resolution urging the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD), through the office of Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, to resume the processing of ladderized senior citizen benefits under City Ordinance No. 910 or the Ladderized Cash Incentive Centenarian Award Ordinance of Bacolod City, was passed by the Bacolod Sanggunaing Panlungsod Wednesday.

The resolution authored by Councilor Em Legaspi-Ang said City Ordinance No. 910 was passed by the SP of Bacolod City last November 6, 2019, with the purpose of making the centenarian incentive ladderized so that the beneficiaries may be able to enjoy the same before they reach the age of 100.

The above-mentioned City Ordinance provides for an annual appropriation of P5 million and the same was all used up already last year leaving other beneficiaries unable to receive such incentive, it said.

The resolution said the 2023 Annual Budget includes the aforesaid appropriation for the said Ordinance and the DSSD as the implementing agency may be able to process and disburse such incentive to qualified beneficiaries.

The Sangguniang Panlungsod deems it necessary to give such incentive benefits to qualified senior citizen residents of the city under the aforesaid Ordinance, hence the implementation of the same must be made a priority, it added.*
