The Bacolod Sanguniang Panlungsod is urging the Department of Trade and Industry – Bacolod to strictly and closely monitor the sale, purchase and disposal of medical oxygen in certain retail and/or wholesale stores in the City of Bacolod.

There are reports that some hospitals in Bacolod City had, at certain times, suffered from lack of medical oxygen supply for their patients, said the resolution passed by the SP during its regular session Wednesday.

There are reports too of possible illicit hoarding of medical oxygen gas supplies in the city, it added.

To avert a grim situation resulting from lack of want of medical gas supplies for patients in any hospital,  medical facility or home in the City of Bacolod,  there is a need to fact-check these reports and monitor the purchases, sales and disposal of medical oxygen gas in the city, the resolution said.

A copy of the resolution will be furnished the DTI-Bacolod, Office of the City Mayor, and Bacolod Emergency and Operations Center.*
