The Bacolod City government will not be issuing special permits to allow flower vendors to sell flowers around the Bacolod City Public Plaza during the celebration of All Saints Day and All Souls Day this year.

Executive assistant Ernesto Pineda said Mayor Evelio Leonardia has assigned him to head Undas Task Force 2021 after issuing Executive Order No. 50 ordering the temporary closure of all public and private cemeteries in Bacolod City to enhance public health and safety protocols during the “Undas Season”.

Pineda said the temporary closure of all public and private cemeteries is also being ordered in the whole province.

Although the city is not issuing special permits to flower vendors to allow them to sell around the plaza, the vendors can still continue their business at their stalls behind the BAYS Center for as long as they do not put up kiosks to their sell flowers, he said.

Pineda said he believes that the demand for flowers will not be so high due to the pandemic so they do not need a bigger space to sell.

If ever there will be people buying flowers, these will only be offered in their homes, he said.*
