The Social Security System (SSS) conducted another round of visits to non-compliant employers during its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) Campaign in the cities of San Carlos, Canlaon and Sagay from February 15 to 16.

SSS San Carlos and Sagay branches served written orders to 14 employers for nonremittance of contributions and non-submission of the monthly collection list. SSS Vice President for Visayas West 1 Division Lilani Benedian reiterated the legal obligations of the employers as mandated by Republic Act No. 11199 or Social Security Act of 2018.

“Employers are mandated by the SS law to register their businesses and report for coverage all of their employees, regardless of the status of their employment; deduct from the salaries of their employees their share in the monthly contribution; pay their own share of Social Security contributions including Employee’s Compensation; and remit these regularly to the SSS through accredited payment channels,” Benedian said in a press release.

Employers who were subjected to the operation were given 15 days to respond to the written notice by visiting SSS San Carlos or Sagay branch for settlement of their delinquencies. SSS is expected to collect P2.87 million worth of contribution delinquencies inclusive of penalties after the operations.

Benedian also said that affected employees can avail of SSS benefits such as sickness, maternity, disability, unemployment, retirement, death and funeral, including loan privileges like salary, calamity, pension, and educational loan once the contribution delinquencies are settled by their employers.

“We must remain firm in our stand in prioritizing the welfare of our employee-members by conducting personal visits to these employers and helping them settle their contribution delinquency. In fact, they can avail of the ongoing penalty condonation program which offers flexible payment terms ranging from 12 to 48 months, depending on the assessed amount. Under this installment mode, employers are required to pay a downpayment of not less than 5% of the total amount of delinquency,” Benedian added.

The SSS Contribution Penalty Condonation Program aims to assist business employers who were unable to pay their obligations by providing flexible payment terms for delinquency settlement and waiving their accumulated penalties after payment has been completed.

SSS will assist business employers through the SSS branch which has jurisdiction over their registered business address. San Carlos Branch can be reached thru these numbers: 312-5316 / 312-5422 or email to sancarlos@sss.gov.ph; SSS Sagay Branch: 488-0270 / 488-0112; or email to Sagay@sss.gov.ph.*
