• GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Two persons died, while two others were injured in three stabbing incidents on Sunday in Negros Occidental, with two of the three suspects having been arrested by the police.

A commotion at a wake triggered a stabbing incident in Purok 2, Brgy. Quiwi, Hinigaran, claiming the life of Alberto Libria Jr., who was reported by the police to have been declared dead on arrival at the municipal health clinic.

Police investigations showed that Libria, 29, was under the influence of liquor, when the stabbing incident took place, while he was watching a card game.

Libria succumbed to a stab wound on his left chest, while the suspect identified as Jonathan Nasaral also suffered stabbing injuries, on the left side of his face, left arm, and right side of his stomach, according to the Hinigaran police.

Nasaral is currently under the custody of Hinigaran police.

Heated arguments also led to another stabbing incident at Purok Lopues in Brgy. Dulao, Bago City, with victim, identified as Arturo Quipsi Jr., also declared dead on arrival at the City Hospital, according to the police.

Quipsi, 33, and his friends were engaged in a drinking spree at the public plaza, when they invited the suspect, a certain Dequilla, to join them. When the latter refused, a heated argument ensued between them, according to the Bago police.

Police investigations further showed that the victim reportedly pointed a gun at the suspect, who stabbed him on his upper right arm and immediately fled the scene.

Quipsi, 33, and his friends were engaged in a drinking spree at the public plaza, when they invited the suspect, Jonathan Dequilla, to join them. When the latter refused, a heated argument ensued between them, according to the Bago police.

A construction worker identified as Roger Montesino was also injured on June 18, after he was allegedly stabbed by Ruel Optama at Sitio Lower Balicaocao in Brgy. Orong, Kabankalan City.

The stabbing incident took place after the victim and the suspect also figured in heated arguments during a drinking spree.

Montesino, 42, suffered a stab wound at his left lower armpit after being stabbed by Optana, who was armed with an ice pick.

Optana was arrested by the responding barangay tanods, while Montesino is currently being treated in a hospital.*
