The Sugarbowl Tenpin Bowling Association Inc. (STAI) concluded its campaign at the Metro Cagayan Tenpin Open Tournament on a high note, celebrating a series of stellar performances.
With a deep sense of gratitude, the team departed Cagayan De Oro, appreciating not only their success on the lanes but also the warmth and hospitality they experienced throughout the tournament.
According to a press release, the tournament’s crowning achievement for STAI came in the Open Rookie Division, where Lotis Contaoi secured the championship title on September 26, as Jennifer Tan of the ‘D Bowleros of Iloilo got 3rd runner-up.
In the Classified category played last September 27, OJ Lopue displayed remarkable resilience, finishing 2nd runner-up despite competing with a mere 3-pin handicap. Meanwhile, STAI veterans Ariel Yelo, Raymund Livioco, and Neel Abordaje made their mark in the Seniors’ event, while in the Open category on September 29, Lance Tan and Syd Vista earned 5th and 7th runner-up finishes, respectively.
In the Mixed Masters Open qualifying round, Tan took top honors as the leading qualifier, with impressive performances from Vista and Andrey Barbosa in 2nd and 3rd position, rounding out the team’s success.
STAI’s strong showing was supported by its sister clubs—STAI Youth – Bowler X, Coffee Boys, Monday Club, and ‘D Bowleros of Iloilo. Led by STAI President Herman Santos and buoyed by the father-and-son duo of Billy and OJ Lopue, the team also enjoyed the special participation of Mark and Flor Hodgkinson, and backing from Bowler X.
As the team left Cagayan, they extended their sincere appreciation to Ferdz Vidad and Jannice Ngo for their outstanding hospitality.
STAI returned home to Bacolod City victorious, having made their presence felt both in competition and camaraderie, while looking forward to their next bowling challenge.*
