The declaration of Binalbagan in Negros Occidental, under a state of calamity was recommended by its Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (LDRRMO).
LDRRMO head Engr. Jernie Ronding disclosed on Monday that the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council, headed by Mayor Emmanuel Aranda, is expected to deliberate over their recommendation within the week.
Ronding reported that 13 of the 16 Binalbagan barangays experienced floods for several days, affecting 10,413 families.
Damage to the fisheries sector was reported at P1.14 million, high value crops – P1.2 million, and P106,000 for livestock.
On the other hand, Kabankalan Mayor Benjie Miranda said they are still collating data from the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, City Agriculture, and Social Welfare Development Offices, to serve as their basis for the declaration of a state of calamity.
Sixteen barangays of Kabankalan City were flooded, affecting 1,484 families, composed of 4,361 persons.
Meanwhile, initial damage to infrastructure in Moises Padilla, based on the report of LDRRMO head Reynald Horegue, was estimated at P28,885,661.82, as of July 20.
Damage to crops and livestock was estimated at P4,389,450.*
