Fresh from the SingaCup International Youth Football, the combination of Renee Lomugdang, Chlyde Miraflores, Hoaquin Mikael Ortega, and Toby Alingasa helped pave the way for their team, the Under-12, 11-a-side football team of University of St. La Salle, to capture the title of champion in the 43rd NOPSSCEA held at UNO-R football field on December 3.
Chubb Miraflores said “we have waited 8 years to once again claim this title and qualify for the provincial athletic meet.” Looking back at former head coach Dave Javellana, they even took home the silver medal in Tagum City, Davao during the 2015 Palarong Pambansa.
The 5-0-0 standing, with goalkeeper Mel Ythan Sun holding his ground that kept the score sheet clean, they battled against Trinity Christian School in the final match.
“It was the result of our grassroots development, starting with age 6-12, that we have maintained this core group to finally break the 8 years dry spell, followed up with local, national, and international exposure,” said head coach John Moreno.
“This champion team absolutely outclass-the-competition,” said assistant coach Luis William Clauor, regarding the team composed of Chlyde Miraflores, Hoaquin Mikael Ortega, Renee Lomugdang, Karl Lopez, Mel Ythan Sun, Xavi Alfonso Aguilar, Matteo Jose Escario, Zildjian Ledesma, Alex Jan Herman, Zak Liwag, V Reboton, Paul Hendrix Matiling, Michael Richard Mantile, Ryuichi Khalil Fuentes, Ivan Miguel Cañete, Toby Alingasa, Kate Nicole Verde, and Daniel Francis Sentinar.*
