The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod is requesting the Bacolod City Health Office to strengthen its campaign against dengue prevention in the City of Bacolod.
The resolution authored by Councilor Claudio Jesus Raymundo Puentevella said the CHO Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit has recorded a total of 2,617 dengue cases in Bacolod from January to December 2024.
The barangays with the highest recorded dengue cases are Taculing with 274, Mansilingan – 216, and Estefania and Bata with 182 each, it said.
According to the World Health Organization, dengue, also known as Break-bone fever, is a viral infection spread by mosquitoes to humans. It is most common in tropical and subtropical climates. The dengue virus is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected female mosquitoes, the resolution said.
The Bacolod City Health Office is requested to strengthen the campaign and provide an aggressive approach in its campaign to prevent or suppress the spread and increase of cases of dengue fever in the City of Bacolod, it added.*
