The police filed qualified theft charges against two drivers allegedly involved in the stealing of two truckloads of sugar, before the Negros Occidental Provincial Prosecutor’s Office on September 27, disclosed provincial police spokesman PCapt. Judesses Catalogo yesterday.

Facing charges and detained at the custodial facility of Bago City police were John Michael Oryen and Jhujet Arsenio. Both are drivers of two wing vans containing 1,000 bags of sugar which they claimed to have been hijacked by five unidentified suspects on Monday night in La Carlota City.

Police probers however later found out that it was a hoax.

The stolen sugar was later discovered at a bodega in Brgy. Busay, Bago City.

Catalogo said the cohorts of the two arrested suspects are still being determined, as of this time.*
