The Bacolod City government has opened the Bacolod Summer Night Market along Gatuslao Street, situated in front of the Bacolod Public Plaza.
The project, implemented by the City Administrator’s Office, is designed to provide economic assistance to small vendors and micro-enterprises affected by the ongoing fuel and energy crisis.
City Administrator Atty. Mark Steven confirmed that the night market operates through a resolution from the Sangguniang Panlungsod, which authorizes the use of public spaces for trade every weekend until May 31.
More than 80 food and dry goods stalls have been established and to facilitate the initiative, the city has waived standard fees, requiring vendors to pay only for the necessary special permits to operate in the designated areas.
The initiative aims to provide a stable venue for local sellers to sustain their livelihoods despite the rising costs of goods and petroleum.*
