All personnel at the Police Regional Office – Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) headquarters at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City were subjected to a surprise random drug test on July 21.

Those subjected to drug testing also included the Command Group, which includes the regional police director and his staff officers.

The activity highlights our strict adherence to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and public trust, said a statement from PRO-NIR Public Information Office.

It further said that the drug testing was held at the NOCPPO Multi-Purpose Gym, and forms part of the PNP’s ongoing internal cleansing program aimed at ensuring a drug-free workplace and upholding the integrity and professionalism of its members.

Police officers who will be found positive for drug use will be facing immediate relief from their posts, pending investigations.

Their urine samples will then be subjected to confirmatory testing.

If the second drug test gives the same results, the Philippine National Police said concerned  officers will be dismissed from service.*
