Authorities have identified the suspect behind the armed robbery of a 19-year-old female student in Simon Peter Village, Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, which occurred on Thursday, January 15.
According to a report from Bacolod Police Station 7, the victim was identified as ‘Aiyana,’ a resident of the same village. The incident took place at approximately 7 p.m. while she was walking toward her home.
She was suddenly blocked by the male suspect riding a red-and-black Rusi motorcycle who declared a hold-up.
The suspect brandished a firearm and forcibly took the victim’s bag. The stolen items included an Infinix smartphone valued at P10,000, personal medications, and personal effects.
The suspect immediately fled the scene following the encounter.
Police Captain Jay-r Reyes, chief of PS7, stated that an ocular investigation was conducted shortly after the incident was reported at 8:07 p.m.
Through the police, the victim positively identified the perpetrator as alias ‘Bench,’ 18, a resident of Purok Paghidaet, Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City.
Investigators believe the motive for the crime was personal gain.
A hot pursuit operation is currently underway to apprehend the suspect.
Local authorities are also investigating if the suspect is linked to a similar robbery reported in the same area last month.*
