Suspect in school ransack arrested after stabbing attack

• THERESA MAE DULMAN

Two men were left wounded after they were stabbed by a 21-year-old who was also allegedly linked to a previous school robbery and physical assault case in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.

The incident occurred early Monday, in front of the Ceres Terminal in Barangay 2 of the city.

The victims, identified as 25-year-old alias ‘Kris’ and 19-year-old alias ‘Ely,’ both residents of Binalbagan, were reportedly on their way home when they were intercepted by the alleged suspect, alias ‘Vince,’ and two unidentified companions.

According to the initial police investigation, the suspects were armed with a knife and attacked the victims without provocation, resulting in a leg injury for alias ‘Kris’ and a head wound for alias ‘Ely.’

Responding police officers arrived at the scene shortly after, but the alleged suspect reportedly resisted arrest and attempted to stab the authorities.

This prompted the officers to shoot the suspect in the leg.

All parties involved, including the victims and the alleged suspect, were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect is the same individual allegedly responsible for the ransacking of a school in Himamaylan and the physical assault of two minors.

ISABELA

A neighbor’s attempt to intervene in a dispute between siblings led to a stabbing in Isabela, Negros Occidental, on Sunday night, March 29, leaving two brothers hospitalized.

The victims, identified as alias ‘Vincent’ and ‘Vicente,’ were reportedly engaged in a drunken confrontation when their 51-year-old neighbor, ‘Jonnie,’ stepped in to mediate.

The situation escalated when the suspect allegedly seized a knife from the older brother and used it to attack both men.

While the siblings recover from their injuries in the hospital, the suspect is currently in police custody and faces charges of frustrated murder.*
