Malls and building owners in Bacolod City were requested to suspend until end of this year the collection of rentals from small and medium business tenants, who are temporarily closed or with limited operations due to the imposition of Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine in the city, to allow them to recover.

A resolution, authored by Councilor Simplicia Distrito, said the MECQ imposition severely affected the income of small and medium businesses in the city, who are mostly tenants in malls and buildings.

The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod had previously passed a resolution asking all lessors in the city to consider the situation of businesses, particularly micro, small and medium enterprises, to address the impact of the ECQ.

This time, it is also fitting to reiterate such request, given that the city is under MECQ and most of these businesses have not yet been able to recover from the impact of the ECQ implementation, the resolution said.*
