Banks in Bacolod City and in Negros Occidental are urged to temporarily suspend weekend operations due to the rising coronavirus cases.

The Bankers’ Club of Negros Occidental Inc. passed a resolution on September 4 that encourages its member banks to temporarily suspend weekend banking operations to further limit the vulnerability and exposure of employees to the virus and its anonymous carriers.

Members are advised to implement the stopgap measure until the quarantine status of the province has been downgraded or until such time that the pandemic has been effectively managed, whichever the board deems both favorable and safe for member banks and their employees to resume weekend operations, the resolution said.

Copies of the resolution will be furnished the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Bacolod branch and member-banks.

Bacolod City is under general community quarantine, and Negros Occidental under modified GCQ until end of September.*
