One of the three dead bodies found on August 11 in separate areas of Talisay City, Negros Occidental, has been identified by the police.
PLt. Col. Joem Malong, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office – Negros Island Region, yesterday identified the victim as Mars Relles, 48, of Villa Soledad, Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City.
Based on the initial investigation of the Talisay City Police Station, Malong said that Relles, alias Dodoy, who served a prison term of 10 years at the Bacolod City Jail for a murder case, was freed from the detention facility in December 2023.
Relles, she added, was also a victim of a stabbing incident in March this year in Brgy. Estefania, Bacolod City.
He was found dead on Monday inside a sugarcane field in Hacienda San Isidro, Barangay Concepcion, Talisay City, with personal belongings and a kitchen knife recovered nearby.
Malong said they are still waiting for the result of the post mortem examination of Relles, along with the two other victims who were separately found dead in the barangays of Concepcion and Matab-ang, both in Talisay City.
The Talisay City Police Station has yet to determine if the deaths of three persons were related to each other.
The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region has created a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) to spearhead the probe, integrate all gathered intelligence, and coordinate with forensic experts for the speedy identification of the victims and resolution of the cases.*
