The City of Talisay successfully launched the Kadiwa ng Pangulo at The District North Point-Ayala, Talisay City on August 15, bringing together local farmers’ associations and Pantawid Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) Associations, and cooperatives, to showcase their products and strengthen access to markets, a press release from Talisay PIO said.
The event was attended by key regional and provincial leaders, underscoring the collective support of government agencies for farmers, agripreneurs, and micro-enterprises.
Among the guests were Talisay councilors Wilfredo Malan and Erlou Penado, Sharlyn Lacuesta, Assistant Regional Director of the Department of Agrarian Reform – Negros Island Region (DAR–NIR), Ray Embajador, Officer-in-Charge, Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulations, Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office Negros Island Region (DA RFO–NIR), Lynna Joy Cardinal, Provincial Director of the Department of Trade and Industry – Negros Occidental, Cano Tan, owner of Campuestuhan Highland Resort, and heads of various departments of the City Government of Talisay.
The launch highlighted the commitment of the national and local governments to empower local producers by providing them with wider marketing opportunities, promoting fair trade, and ensuring that affordable, high-quality products reach consumers.
Councilor Wilfredo Malan, chairperson of Committee on Cooperatives and Livelihood Development and Committee on Food and Agriculture, delivered the mayor’s message. He commended the participating farmers’ associations for their dedication to improving productivity and livelihoods.
Ismael Penado, assistant city administrator and head of the City Trade, Enterprise, and Investment Promotion Office (CTEIPO), emphasized that Kadiwa ng Pangulo not only uplifts the local economy but also reflects the city’s vision of inclusive and sustainable growth.
The event concluded with a strong call for continued collaboration among agencies, private sector partners, and people’s organizations to further expand the reach and impact of the Kadiwa ng Pangulo program in Talisay City.*
