Chess players from Talisay City and San Enrique are champions of this year’s Negros Open Chess Tournament or the 2nd Governor’s Cup Chess Tournament (12 -14 years old and 15 – 17 years old categories).
Gov. Eugenio Jose “Bong” Lacson led the awarding of winners of the November 26 tournament held at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City which was organized by the Provincial Sports Office, led by Executive Assistant Anthony Carlo Agustin.
The participants are from the different cities and municipalities of the province.
For the 12 -14 years old category, Escalante City placed second and third while La Carlota and San Enrique placed fourth and fifth, respectively.
For the 15-17 years old category, Silay City placed second, Escalante City third and fourth place, and Cadiz City placed fifth.
Leo Romitman served as the tournament director for both categories.
Lacson advised the players to enhance their skills in sports and at the same time do good in their studies and for their respective parents, or guardians to have their children get vaccinated against Covid-19 for the safety of the whole family.*
