Businessman and former Bacolod city councilor Ricardo “Cano” Tan received two awards during separate homecomings held by the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R) and the Bacolod Tay Tung High School (BTTHS) in Bacolod City Saturday.
Tan was presented the Blue and Gold Citation of Honor, the highest alumni award of UNO-R, during the university’s 79th Homecoming with the theme “Pagpadayon, Coming Home, Giving Back, Moving Forward”, hosted by Class of 2000 at the UNO-R Gymnasium.
The award, which recognizes Tan’s “unwavering support and profound impact on the UNO-R community, extending far beyond philanthropic contributions to his constant, hands-on involvement with students and university projects,” was presented by Rev. Fr. Joel Alve, OAR, Vicente Omarrameteria, Angelus Diamante, Ma. Judy Legaspi, and Carlos Eduardo Legaspi Jr. during a program Saturday.
Tan, in his acceptance speech, said that his heart is full of gratitude for the award given him by his alma mater. It is a great honor that has humbled him.
Meanwhile, Tan and his wife Nenita were presented a special alumni recognition award for the success of the Campuestohan Highland Resort (CHR), during Bacolod Tay Tung High School’s grand alumni homecoming with the theme “The Reunion” at Po Hang Gym Saturday, which was highlighted by the “Tay Tung Lighthouse Keepers as Beacons of Excellence” Alumni Recognition Award.
The couple were honored for the awards garnered by CHR as the Best Theme Park and Recreational Luxury Resort in the Philippines; Most Innovative Iconic Family-Oriented Destination Resort and Hotel; Most Longest Chasing Slide; and Largest Building in the Shape of a Chicken.*
