A 56-year-old barangay tanod in Calatrava, Negros Occidental, was hacked by his fellow tanod at Sitio Mantulongan, Barangay Buenavista, Calatrava, Negros Occidental, on Sunday afternoon.
The suspect, alias “Berting,” 56, a tanod of the barangay reportedly heard stones being thrown at the roof of his house, and went outside to check who was responsible.
Upon checking, he saw that the victim, a fellow barangay tanod, who was having a drinking session at the nipa hut located in front of this house, whom he allegedly confronted.
A heated argument ensued, which triggered the suspect to retreat and return inside his house; however, the victim followed him.
As the drunk victim followed him inside his residence, the suspect hacked the victim on his left and right arms, using a bolo.
The victim was rushed by his neighbors to San Carlos City Hospital for medical treatment and is now in stable condition, while the suspect was arrested at the scene and is now under police custody for proper disposition.*
