A barangay tanod is now under police custody after he was tagged as a suspect in the shooting of a farmer on June 5 at Lopez Jaena Street in Brgy. 1 poblacion, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.
Nabbed by the police during a pursuit operation was Ifraem Gerali, alias Paeng, a tanod of Brgy. Camalobalo, Hinigaran.
The victim identified by the police as Benjie Flores, a 49-year-old farmer, was hit in the left thigh and is now being treated at the Ignacio Arroyo District Hospital in Isabela town.
Police investigations show that the shooting incident took place after heated arguments ensued between Gerali and Flores.*
