Barangay Captain Tanya Familiaran of Barangay 13, Bacolod City has tendered her resignation effective June 9.
Christian Nagaynay, Interior and Local Government – Bacolod director, said he received Familiaran’s resignation letter on June 20. She cited “personal concern” as her reason for resigning, and they respect her decision.
Upon receipt of the letter he coordinated with the barangay officials to initiate the process of transition to make sure there will be no vacuum of leadership, he said.
Cecilia Chavez, the number one Kagawad of Barangay 13, will take her oath as barangay captain, and they have already asked her to submit the pertinent documents, Nagaynay said.
They have set a schedule for the barangay officials to arrange and help in the transition because the concern of the DILG is to ensure that the services in the barangay will not be hampered, he said.
Familiaran is the daughter-in-law of outgoing Bacolod Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran.*
