Twelve persons were caught in the act of illegally dumping garbage in various areas in Bacolod City Tuesday by personnel of Task Force Basura.
Wilfredo Geolingo, Task Force Basura head said these persons were informed of their violations and were made to understand that it is illegal to dump garbage anywhere especially along the roadside, bridges, highway and vacant lots.
The violators were caught illegally dumping garbage in Brgys. 1,2, 14 and 16, CL Montelibano Drive, along Lopue’s East, Alijis, Dona Juliana in Taculing, Mansilingan and Brgy. Mandalagan. They usually hire trisikads or tricycles to dispose of their garbage mostly during night time, he said.
Geolingo said the apprehended persons were not imposed any violation yet but their names were recorded for violation of R.A. 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2007. Once they get caught again, they will be imposed a penalty of P500for committing a second offense.
He said their team is aggressively conducting monitoring activities to prevent of illegal dumping of garbage in Bacolod City.*
