A two-man show by Bacolodnon artists Zanzibar “Billy Boy” Abonado Jr. and Ayla “Ayla August” Abonado opened at the Art Cove, Park Inn by Radisson Bacolod on February 3.
Titled “Polar Points,” the show features Ayla’s cross-stitch, which finds beauty in precision, and Billy Boy’s oil paintings, which finds beauty in fluidity.
“The magic of ‘Polar Points’ is that these opposites do not clash; they complete one another. The structure enhances the flow, and the flow softens the structure. It is a visual reminder that two people can be inseparably linked in life, yet remain beautifully distinct in their craft,” Archie Javellana, Park Inn by Radisson Bacolod Rooms Division Manager said during the opening program.
Billy Boy is a multidisciplinary contemporary artist and the owner of Storm Tattoo Studio in Bacolod City. He is a seasoned graffiti artist making waves both locally and internationally.

From b-boying and music to his recent ventures into DJing, Billy Boy is an artist driven by an unrelenting thirst for knowledge and a vision that refuses to stand still.
Ayla, a resident artist at Storm Tattoo Studio, has been recognized as one the first female artists to break into the city’s male-dominated tattoo industry. Her work is defined by a sophisticated fusion of floral motifs, intricate detailing, and blackwork realism.
Guests of honor at the opening were artist R.A. Tijing and Architect Hilario Campos III.*
