The dead body recently reported found at the river of Hacienda Canla-on 1, Barangay Sag-ang, in the town of La Castellana has been identified due to the name tattooed on his shoulder.
The cadaver, which had been decomposing for at least five days before it was discovered, was identified as Melvin Sederio, 28, and a resident of Barangay Estefania in Bacolod City.
According to Police Major Melchor Patna-an, officer-in-charge of the La Castellana Municipal Police Station, the father of the victim personally visited the station and confirmed the identity of the victim as his son.
He identified his son based on the tattooed name on his shoulder, “Melvin.” According to him, since last year, the victim had been busy finding a job to support his living and only went home to Barangay Estefania occasionally.
The police are still investigating to determine the possible cause of death of the victim.
On Thursday, August 14, the witness who resides near where the cadaver was found was going out to harvest vegetables when he noticed a man lying in the river and reported the incident to the authorities.
The body was found by the police wearing blue denim pants and a blue election campaign shirt of a candidate running for a position in Bacolod City, and the tattoo on his left shoulder that led to his identification.*
