Personnel of the Tourism Office of San Carlos City in Negros Occidental assisted the Tawag ng Tanghalan audition at the SCC Multi-Purpose Hall, Park Marina, in the city on February 14.
At least 55 talented wannabe TV stars, ages 15 to 59 years old from the municipalities of Calatrava, Toboso, and Don Salvador Benedicto, and the cities of Canlaon and San Carlos, grabbed the opportunity to audition for the Tawag ng Tanghalan segment of noontime variety show, Its Showtime.
Tourism Operations Officer Jennifer Saballa-Paran said choosing San Carlos City as the venue for the audition is evident that they have lots of talents in the city and other neighboring areas.
Paran added it boosted the morale of local singers, given that the city produces great performers that have already vied in national competitions.
Meanwhile, Autumn Bacurnay of the Tourism Office and audition in charge said Chiqui Castillo of Tawag ng Tanghalan praised the local talents, saying it’s her favorite place to audition because of performance quality.
Jocelyn Bonghanoy, 36-year-old OFW and former band singer from Canlaon City, shared that she was only 5 years old when she started belting out tunes, and throughout her career as a vocalist in a band, it was her first time to try out for a television show, which is her dream.
Bonghanoy added that being married early and not finishing her studies are not obstacles to fulfilling that dream.
Some of the local talents who made it to the Tawag ng Tanghalan stage include Le’Anna Layumas, Jane Bargo, Jigger Undang, Ramesses Edem, Lizscel Labe, and Katrina Gabunales.*
