Bacolod City Administrator Atty. Mark Steven Mayo reported that local taxi associations have pledged to cooperate with the city government in identifying and disciplining ‘abusive’ drivers.
Following the city’s strict directive against unmetered trips, transport leaders reached out to express their support, offering to resolve complaints internally if the erring drivers are members of their organizations.
Mayo highlighted that the associations are motivated by a desire to protect the industry’s reputation, emphasizing that the majority of drivers are not opportunistic.
He noted that the city and the operators are on the same page in ensuring fair treatment for both passengers and workers.
While no formal complaints have been filed since the directive was issued, Mayo remains in close coordination with operators to address future reports.
The City Administrator’s Office said they continue to welcome dialogue with the transport sector to maintain order and public trust in local transportation.*
