Team Asenso candidates in Bacolod City dominated this year’s elections, with only one candidate for councilor from the opposing camp making it to the ninth slot.
Incumbent Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (Team Asenso) won the congressional race against lawyer Evelio Leonardia (Team El Cid), a former mayor and congressman of Bacolod.
Benitez, former congressman of the third District of Negros Occidental, garnered 164,145 votes against Leonardia, who got 119,431 votes, based on Comelec results as of yesterday.
Bacolod Representative Greg Gasataya (Team Asenso) got 154,551 votes against Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran (Team El Cid) who garnered 141,212 votes in the mayoral race.
Councilor Claudio Puentevella (Team Asenso) won the vice mayoral race with 146,639 votes against Councilor Renecito Novero (Team El Cid), who got 133,706 votes.
The winning candidates for councilor are Team Asenso’s Caesar Distrito with 153,377 votes; Israel Salanga – 149,906; Em Ang – 146,548; Jude Thaddeus Sayson – 144,827; Jason Villarosa – 137,623; Celia Matea Flor – 122,669; Dindo Ramos – 121,382; Roberto Rojas – 121,233; Wilson Gamboa Jr. (the only winner from Team El Cid) -120,784; Psyche Marie Sy – 119,610; Homer Bais – 118,957; and Al Victor Espino – 113,441.*
