Stacey Arabella Bee, a Grade 8 student from USLS-IS Bacolod and a resident of Camelot Village, Barangay Estefania won a total of 7 medals out of 9 events in the recently concluded Philippine Swimming Inc. (PSI) Grand Prix National Championships held on September 22 to 24 at the Teofilo Ydelfonso Swimming Pool, Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila.
Bee won two gold medals in the 1500-meter and 800-meter freestyle (11 to 13 girls) events, three silver medals in the 400-meter IM (11 to 13 girls), 400-meter freestyle (11-13 girls) and 800-meter freestyle (open category), and two bronze medals in the 1500-meter freestyle (open category) and 200-meter breaststroke (11-15 girls).
Bee was a member of the Western Visayas delegation that participated in the Palarong Pambansa 2023 earlier this year, and although she did not make the podium then, she is determined to train even harder to get a better result next year.
In a post-victory statement, Bee expressed her gratitude, saying, “Winning at the Philippine Swimming Grand Prix is a dream come true for me. I couldn’t have done it without the support of my coaches, teammates, and my loving family. This victory is not just for me but for all the young athletes who dream big. Keep believing in yourselves, and anything is possible.”*
