Twenty Bacolod teenagers competing for Mr. and Ms. Teen MassKara 2022 titles prove that they are more than just good looks, wit and pleasing personalities.
In collaboration with the Junior Chamber International Bacolod, the candidates led the feeding and coastal clean-up together with 60 kids aged 8 to 12 years old in Purok Crossing Otso, Barangay Tangub in Bacolod City on October 1.
JCI Bacolod, a non-profit organization committed to create positive change among the youth, spearheaded the program with CORE represented by Elmeer Meeynard Calimpos, Jesse De Guia Seva and Christian Carmona of Christ’s Youth in Action, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
JCI Bacolod executive vice president and project chairman Brian Adams Jimera said that the “Immersion Project: Coastal Clean-up and Feeding Program” consisted of simultaneous activities for the children, such as proper hand-washing, and an environmental talk with DENR-PENRO Public Information Officer Ma. Therese Pialago.
“This activity gives MassKara Teen candidates the opportunity to expose themselves to the community, and be able to help because pageants nowadays are advocacy-oriented, and not only for beauty purposes,” Jimera added in a press release.
The cleanup drive was organized by Jimera, JCI Bacolod 2022 president Cherrie Mae Toleco, treasurer Rhoda Faye Tan, director Axl Turk Modesto, 2019 president Albert Pendioday, LSDD Shiela Barcimo, deputy director Mary Chelle Hinojales, member Michelle Santillan, Henry Steven Malata, and the rest of the 2022 Board of Directors and members.
The activity was also in collaboration with the Core group of the Mr. and Ms. Teen MassKara 2022, led by Chino Macam Pineda, Gel Parreñas, Jerad Dela Raga, and Nico Valencia.
The Mr. and Ms. Teen MassKara 2022 preliminary competition will be held on Oct. 8, starting at 3 p.m. at Robinsons Place Bacolod, while the coronation night is on Oct. 15, 6 p.m., at the Bacolod City College Event Center.*
