The Bacolod Yuan Thong Temple, located along Burgos Extension, Bacolod City is hosting a group art exhibition that celebrates the Mooncake Festival, as well as the universal allure of the moon.
Titled “Selenophile”, the show which opened on September 28, features the works of Rodney Martinez, Ian Valladarez, Mike Borromeo, Ryn Paul ‘RPG’ Gonzales, Gigi Villamor, Vicky Gasper, Pnuema Lorena Lorenzo, Kyle Jocson, Tibo Deocades, Arnel Villaceran, Patty Jane Ong, Maria Isabel Destacamento, Edmund Bacia, and Rianne Salvarita.
The Mooncake Festival, rooted in centuries-old traditions, has always centered around the luminous presence of the moon- a symbol of completeness, unity, and spiritual connection.
As Filipinos, we honor this tradition and its significance in our cultural landscape, highlighting how its themes of reunion, gratitude, and harmony transcend borders and resonate across diverse communities.

In Selenophile, we invite you to explore the profound relationship between humanity and the moon, expressed through a curated collection of paintings, sculpture, and mixed media that reflects the moon’s significance in art, culture and mythology, the exhibition statement said.
Through the exhibition, we celebrate not only the rich tradition of the Mooncake Festival but also our universal fascination with the moon – uniting us as “lovers of the moon.” It invites you to look beyond its celestial light, to connect with the deeper meanings it holds, and to reflect on the harmony between nature, community, and self.*
