Terramax ATM completed their campaign undefeated with a 9-0 record, after beating Atrezzo ECO 74-64 at the recently concluded Fil-Sino 1st Sailun Tire Basketball Cup.
The Ecos held a one-point lead after the first quarter, but Siote Tan responded with six triples in the second frame to help ATM take a double digit lead heading into halftime, 46-31. The Ecos matched bucket for bucket during the second half of the contest, but couldn’t do enough to gain meaningful ground.
It was a historic night for the winning team as they became the first champion of the Sailun Tire Basketball Cup. Siote Tan led the way with 20 points, along with finals MVP award. Randy Colonia contributed 10 points and was named Season MVP. Arnol Laureno led Atrezzo Eco with 18 points, while Harry Siendo added 17 points and Cris Pascua tallied 14 points.
In the other finals game, Atrezzo ZSR defeated Atrezzo SVR LX, 93-82, in overtime. The game got out to a tight start where the ZSR led, 22-21, after one quarter. Both sides kept up the pace in the second but the SVR managed to outscore the ZSR, 18-10, to take a seven-point lead into the break.
Both sides came out hot again in the third, but the ZSR trimmed it to a one-point game as they headed into the final frame with the score at 56-55. The game was tied multiple times in the fourth quarter, but the SVR were able to take a three point lead with 21 seconds remaining.
The tide would turn for good for the ZSR after JB Co dropped a bomb from behind the arc to send the game to overtime, where they picked up the momentum in the extended period and chipped away to close out their championship victory.
Kim Dimaranan led the Atrezzo ZSR with 19 points and was named season MVP. Bambam Gilbor followed up with 11 points, along with finals MVP award. Meanwhile, Tata Javillo poured in 31 points for Atrezzo SVR, and Carlo Chu followed up with 13 points.*
