The second round of the Fil-Sino 1st Sailun Tire Basketball Cup kicked off with Terramax ATM taking down the Atrezzo Elite, 88-77.
It was all the Elites at the get go, as they built a 4-point lead to end the first quarter, 23-19. The ATM managed to keep up in the second quarter, but entered halftime with a six point deficit. Keeping their feet on the proverbial gas pedal, the ATM accelerated their game in the third quarter and pushed the lead up to 12 points going into the final frame, 68-56.
The Elites put up a fight in the fourth, but it was not enough, as the ATM held on to a convincing win, clinching a 5-game winning streak. Francis Barcellano led the way for Terramax ATM with 21 points. Andy Tio generated 12 points and grabbed player of the game honors. Buddy Eufre generated 13 points and Randy Colonia recorded 11 points. Jeffrey Maningo paced the Atrezzo Elite with 15 points, while DK Equipaje registered 12 points and Tony Abad totaled 10 points.
In the other second round game, Atrezzo Eco defeated Terramax RT, 74-72.
The Ecos jumped out to a strong start and led, 25-10, after one quarter. The RT brought a better effort in the second and managed to trim the deficit to a ten-point game by halftime. Both sides were rolling in the third, where the RT outscored the Ecos, 16-12, to push their lead up to 16 points, entering the final frame.
The Ecos stayed in front for most of the fourth, but the RT’s did not give up and rallied to tie the game. With possession of the ball and 4 seconds remaining, Arnol Laurenio’s timely assist to Harry Siendo did not disappoint as the latter was able to complete the game winning buzzer beater for the Ecos.
Harry Siendo led Atrezzo Eco with 28 points and player of the game honors, while Emil Guanzon and Arnol Laureno followed up with 11 points apiece. Meanwhile, Jolly Castillo led the Terramax RT with 15 points, Janjan Lopue followed up with 14 points, while Arvin Gustilo added 13 points.*
