Visual artist Gigi Villamor opened her first solo art exhibition titled “The F Word” at Gallery G, Villa Geronca Building, Rosario-Amapola streets, Bacolod City Saturday.
Guests of honor were Lyn Mapa and Rodney Martinez, Museo de la Salle director, and Art Association of Bacolod-Negros (AAB-N) past president, respectively.
Gigi’s passion for painting started when she was just a little girl, painting alongside her father when he was painting.
She graduated from the University of Sto. Tomas with a Bachelor of Fine Arts major in Advertising Arts.
She had worked with several companies connected to her field, from an advertising agency, fashion designer and visual merchandiser for a fashion and design retail company, was artist and moderator in an exclusive school in Greenhills, San Juan, MM; and as an artist and a writer in a religious magazines and books publishing company.
Gigi eventually found her calling in the academe-related career in a publishing company wherein two books she designed and laid out won the Gintong Aklat Award. She is currently employed at a prestigious university in Bacolod and is one of the Board of Directors of the Art Association Bacolod-Negros.
She likes to go back to her first love in her free time – painting. She likes to work in different media like pencils, pens, charcoal, oil pastel, watercolor, gouache, acrylic and oil. She has done several commissioned works and has been part of group exhibits at several galleries and art shows.
Recently, she was honored as one of the Outstanding UST Atelier Alumni as Artist and Educator.*
