Negrense visual artist Roberto “Bert” Berondo Sr. opened his 15th solo art exhibition titled “Variation Works” at The Negros Museum in Bacolod City, Friday, which is slated to run until January 2024.
Berondo is a self-taught artist who discovered his innate talent when he was a little boy. He started as a realistic painter and later tried to discover his own style. He also experimented on all types of media but most of his works are done in acrylic, as well as pen and ink.
He had also worked as a ceramic designer and artist before he focused on painting.
Berondo is considered a modern artist as his works have been inspired by the famous Spanish artist, Pablo Picasso.
His subjects include Negros sacadas, Aetas, mother and child or father and son, vegetable and fruit vendors, and abstracts.
He has joined more than 58 group art exhibitions in the Visayas and Palawan and is one of the early members of the Art Association of Bacolod-Negros.
He currently resides in Villa Angela, Phase 2, Brgy. Vista Alegre, Bacolod City where he has put up his own art gallery.*
