Third edition of Chairman’s Cup tips off

The Third Chairman’s Cup Negros, a collaboration of the United Negros Basketball League (UNBL) and Toyota Negros Occidental, kicks off June 1 at the Willy and Nolita Au court, Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

Thirty two teams joined the 3rd edition of the Chairman’s Cup, with 18 teams in the 17 and under Category, while 14 teams entered the 21 under Category.

The 17-under teams were divided into 3 brackets, with Bracket A composed of RAAK Transport, KENN, Shockwave, Barangay Granada, C&C Café/Ang Bata Hardware, and St. John’s Institute.

Comprising Bracket B are University of St. La Salle, EL Tzino-CTTC, OBI Knights, Spartans Basketball, JJP University of Negros Occidental, Bacolod Trinity Christian School /Lamtex- Plastic Ware.

Bacolod Tay Tung High School is in Bracket C, together with Frogtail Valladolid, Bobcats, Cabug/CBAC Nocturnals, 1Negros Jaguars, Reach Sports-Colegio De San Agustin Bacolod.

Meanwhile 14 teams in the 21 and under Category are divided into 2 brackets, with Underdogs, JJP UNO-R, STI-West Negros University, Barangay 2/Sto. Niño Dockers, USLS, Barangay Granada, and Spartans Basketball under Bracket A, while Bracket B is led by CSAB-Strived, Visayan Maritime Academy Undrafted, Red Owl Focal, OBI Knights, Bleachers SportsBar, Delta V, and Mejica Automotive /Fyr Fyter.

The tournament will run from June 1 to 16, and games will be played at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School and St. John’s Institute.

Robert Uy, Toyota Chairman’s Cup founder and SBP Regional Director Western Visayas, will be the guest speaker in the opening of the tourney.*
