A predawn fire destroyed 13 residential houses and displaced 18 families in Purok Masanag, Barangay 26, Bacolod City, early Monday morning, January 26.
The Bureau of Fire Protection – Bacolod indicates that 9 structures were totally destroyed and four were partially damaged, resulting in an estimated property loss of P150,000.
The Department of Social Services and Development reported that a total of 18 families or 65 individuals were affected.
The affected residents are currently taking refuge at Mabini Elementary School.
The BFP-Bacolod identified electrical ignition due to arcing as the cause of the blaze that originated from the residence of Linda Barba at 5:20 a.m., which quickly reached a second alarm due to the rapidly spreading across the 600-square-meter area.
The fire was extinguished at around 5:55 a.m. with no reported injuries or fatalities.
The incident is the third in a series of fires across the city, starting on Saturday in Barangay 10, followed by and Sunday’s blaze at Barangay Singcang-Airport.*
