
University of St. La Salle – Fyr Fyter, Royal Star Trading, and Davies Paints Phils. are tied atop the standings with 2-0 win-loss slates in the 1st United Negros Basketball League 25-under Open Basketball Tournament after games played last Sunday at the Luis T. Sports Pavilion.
USLS – Fyr Fyter romped away with a 62-44 victory as the USLS pressure defense derailed the JSY Transport offense as the latter was limited to a low-scoring opening quarter.
Keith Rheileen Ortillano fired 15 of this team high 17 points in the 1st half to lead USLS and Andrei Dubouzet nailed 8 straight points in the 4th quarter to finish with 14, while Lenz Catalan shot 7, Ivan Macabani dropped 6, and Bonn Ernest Daja had 5.
JSY Transport got their production from Jessie Amago with 11 points, backstopped by Janrey Marmito – 10, Bonbrix Balontong – 6, and Elmer Orano – 5.
JEYDI K Waterproofing debuted with a victory against OBI Knights 76-69. OBI Knights fought back from a double digit deficit to cut the lead to 5 points in the 4th quarter, but Lorreal Arculo scored 8 of the last 16 points of the quarter for JEYDI K to seal the victory.
Andy Villamer spearheaded JEYDI K with 15 points, Arculo – 11, Joshua Abkilan and Jemwel Malojo – 10 apiece.
Fifteen-year-old Adrian Alagaban paced the Knights with 11, Edgar Calpes – 9, Jules Hubierna and James Lumbrado – 8 points each, John Andrey Solivio – 7, and Edwin Madrileno – 7.
Mark Ray Dubouzet spearheaded the Davies Paints Phils. effort against KDR Perfector 85-68, with 23 markers on 6 triples, Ken Jay Sarco knocked down 14 points, Kent Macalalag and Edmond Ojera contributed 8 apiece, and James Garrucho nailed 7.
Louie Jay Villarosa led KDR Perfecto with 19 points, Debe Cerino Baliguas – 13, Mark Bryan Bandojo – 10, and Sweet Nemenzo – 9.
Royal Star Trading held off a hard fighting CSAB/Strived Sportswear 69-64. Edsel Manday led RST with 5 triples for 21 points, Joshua Genesis Vincoy – 8, John Lloyd Licawan – 7, and Jules Garcia – 6.
CSAB was led by Kenneth Malazarte’s 20 points, Mycco Deposoy and Rowel Negro contributed 12 points each, Manu Villareal connected for 9, and AJ Ondon had 8.*
