Arnol Laureno started out remarkably cold and dominating, scoring 16 points and giving Asahi a 6 point lead 29-23 after the first quarter. However, Tiger Black began to pick up the pace in the second quarter, with the spectacular shooting of Jason Yap showing, sinking 4 from behind the arc to eliminate the deficit and take an eleven-point lead over the Asahi into the halftime, 56-45. Tiger Black would go on to defeat Asahi, 98-80.
Mark Dela Cruz and Archie Defensor would progressively heat up in the second half, closing out the win with five triples combined. Mark Dela Cruz was named player of the game, scoring a total of 21 points. Jason Yap added 12 points and Malvin Pineda netted 11 points.
Arnol Laureno contributed a game high 26 points for Asahi, followed by Julius Teruel with 14 points, and Buddy Eufre’s 11 points.
In the other game, Summit defeated Beer na Beer with a final score of 106-104. Siote Tan paced the Summit with 15 points, displaying outstanding shooting as he sank five triples, but was not enough as Beer na Beer was still leading by three after the first quarter, 28-25.
Randy Colonia and Es Santos rallied for a combined 32 points and gave Summit a three-point lead at the break 57-54. Beer na Beer then picked up their momentum again in the third quarter, outscoring Summit by 6 points in the frame to take a 3-point cushion into the final quarter.
The teams exchanged runs in the fourth quarter, but the game belonged to Summit as they managed to take the lead before time expired. Randy Colonia was named player of the with 38 points, followed by Siote Tan’s 20 points, and Es Santos netted 19 points for Summit. Mar Dormido led Beer na Beer with 26 points, while Jeremy Coo added 14 points and Edrem Sansing chipped in 13.*
