Tigkalalag returns after 7 years

After a seven-year hiatus, the Tigkalalag Festival has returned to the Municipality of Isabela in Negros Occidental.

For its 15th edition, seven clustered barangays participated in the street dance parade and dance showdown at the Isabela public plaza on November 2.

Performer No. 2, Cluster 2, composed of Barangays 4, 6, Rumirang, and Guintubhan was declared this year’s champion in street and arena showdown competition. It took home P100,000 in cash prize and a championship trophy. It also bagged several minor awards, including Best in Streetdancing, Best in Costume, and Best in Choreography.

First Runner-up (Performer #3) – Cluster 7, composed of Barangays Bungahin, Bulad, Panaquiao, and 5*
Second Runner-up (Performer #7) – Cluster 4, composed of Barangays Riverside, Sibucauan, Sikatuna, Banogbanog, and Libas*

Performer No.3, Cluster 7, composed of Barangays Bungahin, Bulad, Panaquiao, and 5 bagged the first runner-up honors and received P70,000 in cash prize and trophy, while performer No.7, Cluster 4, composed of Barangays Riverside, Sibucauan, Sikatuna, Banogbanog, and Libas was second runner-up and received P50,000 in cash prize and trophy.

The Most Disciplined award was given to performer No.1.

Present during the highlights were Mayor Miguel Angelo Yulo, Vice Mayor Renato Malabor Jr., Fifth District Rep. Dino Yulo, and Board Member Hadji Trojillo.

The 3-day festivities were capped with a grand fireworks display.*
